How can it be, visitors mustiness wonder. How can the richest country in the world look equal this? Oddly enough, it may not be a coincidence. Americans are ripe(p) at some things and distressing at others. Were impregnable at making movies and software, and rotten at making cars and cities. And I think we may be n ifty at what were good at for the same reason were bad at what were bad at. Were impatient. In America, if you requirement to do something, you dont worry that it might consider out badly, or upset delicate social balances, or that people might think youre getting above yourself. I suspect it works in movies and software because theyre both unfastidious processes. Systematic is the last word Id use to describe the focusing good programmers write software. Code is not something they assemble fast idiously after careful planning, like the py! ramids. Its something they plunge into, functional profligate and constantly changing their minds, like a charcoal sketch. In software, paradoxical as it sounds, good craftsmanship means workings fast.
